SOUTH CENTRAL RAILWAY CELEBRATES
60th ANNIVERSARY OF INDIAN
South Central Railway celebrated the 60th
anniversary of Indian Independence today (15th August, 2007) at the Railway Sports
Complex, RRC Grounds, Secunderabad. Shri H.K. Padhee, General Manager, South Central Railway unfurled the
National Flag and accepted the guard of honour presented by various contingents including the
Railway Protection Force, Bharat
Scouts & Guides, Civil Defence, National Cadet Corps, Students from Railway
Degree College, Railway Junior College, Railway High Schools etc.
In his Message on the occasion, Shri H. K. Padhee said that the Nation’s Independence Day holds
immense significance for Indian Railways which partnered its destiny through
every moment and South Central Railway is proud of being a part of this
enduring legacy. Highlighting SCR’s performance track
record, the General Manager stated that the Zone has recorded a originating freight loading of 21.4 Million Tonnes (MTs) during the current
financial year from April till July, 2007 as compared to 19.5 MTs during the corresponding period of the previous year,
registering a robust growth of over 10%. In terms of originating earnings, SCR
registered an impressive growth of 12.4 % over the last year as compared to the
Indian Railways’ growth rate of 10.5%. The Zone continues to contribute the
second highest apportioned earnings to the Indian Railways exchequer signifying
its eminence, he added. The excellent operating ratio of 69% achieved during
the period until July 2007 in the current financial year reflects the
continuing financial efficiency of SCR. SCR has been allocated the highest ever
budgetary outlay of Rs.1611 Cr during the current financial year which includes
an allocation of Rs.85 Cr for passenger amenity works. The Zone has chalked out
a strategy to ensure cleanliness all over its net work in tune with the “Year of Cleanliness” being observed during
2007-08 as announced by the Hon’ble Minister of
Railways, the General Manager elaborated.

“Necklace Road Railway Station and MMTS Train” at the official Independence Day celebrations of the Government of Andhra Pradesh at Parade
Grounds, Secunderabad which bagged the 3rd prize. Shri P. Krishnaiah, Chief Public Relations
Officer, S.C. Railway received the prize at the hands of Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara
Reddy, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
